New Ruth Townsite
New Ruth is located about 1.5 miles off HWY 50 and about 7 miles from Ely, NV. In the mid 1950’s the Ruth townsite was moved a short distance to make way for the growing copper mine in the area (the old Ruth town now lies beneath the tailings of the Ruth Mine). There are a few services in town but all services can be found a short distance away in Ely. While several mines have closed in the area many years ago, the Robinson Copper Mine remains active and thriving.

The largest city and county seat of White Pine County, Ely is home to over 4,000 residents. Founded as a stagecoach stop, copper was discovered in the early 1900’s and Ely’s mining boom was born. Today Ely has all city amenities, including shopping, restaurants, hotels, and since it is Nevada, casinos. With vast open spaces around Ely there are plenty of outdoor activities in the area including hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing in the winter months.
